Commercial Aluminum Wire & Cable

Aluminum wire and cables are essential components used for transmitting electrical power and signals in commercial applications, including offices, retail stores, warehouses, and factories. Commercial spaces often have specialized electrical and mechanical systems to meet the specific needs of the businesses that occupy them.

DWC understands commercial aluminum wire and cable play a crucial role in the electrical systems for these businesses, providing reliable and efficient electrical power transmission, control, and distribution. We carry a variety of commercial aluminum and cable used for electrical wiring, including branch circuits and service entrance cables.

Commercial aluminum wire and cable supplies electrical power to lighting fixtures in commercial spaces, including offices, retail stores, and industrial facilities. It’s used in control circuits to control and monitor various electrical systems, including HVAC systems, security systems, and fire suppression systems.

Benefits of Commercial Aluminum Wire & Cable:

  1. Increased Electrical Conductivity – Increased efficiency as aluminum allows wire and cable to carry high currents with minimal resistance.

  2. Durability and Longevity - Highly durable metal that can withstand harsh environments and resist corrosion, making your wiring long-lasting and suitable for use in spaces that experience heavy use and exposure to the elements.

  3. Lightweight - Easier to handle and transport than other materials, making it more convenient for commercial and industrial applications.

  4. Cost-Effective - Compared to copper and other metals, aluminum is a more cost-effective option for commercial and industrial applications, enabling businesses to reduce their expenses.

  5. Versatility - Available in a wide range of sizes and specifications suitable for a variety of commercial applications, including power transmission, lighting, and control circuits, making it a flexible solution.

Choosing aluminum wire and cable for your business is a cost-effective and efficient solution to meet your electrical transmission and distribution needs. Our selection of commercial aluminum wire and cable will help you to reduce your costs while ensuring reliable and safe electrical power transmission.

FAQs

What are the benefits of using aluminum wire and cable?

Aluminum has several advantages over other materials for use in electrical wiring and cable. It is lighter and easier to handle than copper, which makes it easier to install. Aluminum is also a more cost-effective alternative to copper and is highly conductive, making it an efficient choice for transmitting electrical power. Additionally, it’s highly resistant to corrosion, making it ideal for use in outdoor applications.

What are the different types of aluminum wire and cable?

There are several types of aluminum wire and cable, including aluminum building wire, aluminum service entrance cable, aluminum branch circuit cable, and aluminum overhead conductor cable. Each type is designed for a specific application, such as interior wiring, service entrance, or overhead transmission. Others include URD (underground residential distribution wire), commonly used for underground utility systems and installed in ducts or conduits for secondary power distribution. MV (medium voltage) is often used in the commercial, industrial, and electrical utility industries. While single-conductor solar photovoltaic (PV) cables are designed specifically for interconnections in photovoltaic solar power systems.

What are the electrical specifications for aluminum wire and cable?

The electrical specifications for aluminum wire and cable depend on the specific type and use. Common specifications include ampacity, voltage rating, and resistance. Make sure to select wire and cable that is appropriate for your specific application, taking into consideration factors such as the type of load, the environment in which it will be used, and applicable electrical codes and regulations.

What is the difference between aluminum and copper wire and cable?

The main difference between aluminum and copper wire and cable is their conductivity and cost. Copper is a more expensive and more conductive material than aluminum. However, aluminum is lighter, more flexible, and more resistant to corrosion than copper, making it a good choice for certain applications where those factors are important.

Can aluminum wire and cable be used for high-temperature applications?

Yes, there are aluminum wire and cable products that are specifically designed for high-temperature applications. These products typically feature heat-resistant insulation and other materials that can withstand high temperatures. Make sure to choose the right type of aluminum wire and cable for your specific application and always follow the manufacturer's guidelines for use in high-temperature environments.

ACSR – Aluminum Conductor, Steel Reinforced

ACSR (aluminum conductor steel-reinforced) is a preferred choice for overhead power transmission and distribution projects. ACSR is widely used due to its low cost, dependability, and strength to weight ratio. The combined light weight and high conductivity of aluminum, combined with the strength of the steel core enables higher tensions, less sag, and longer spans than any typical alternative.

AAC – ALL ALUMINUM CONDUCTOR

1272 AWG STRANDED BARE AAC ALUMINUM used for overhead transmission and primary and secondary distribution.
